'Sea Ems' Weaste 8th July 2015
'Sea Ems' became the first vessel to unload cement at Weaste Wharf since circa 2002. Blue Circle opened this facility in 2000 after closing it's Tanhouse lane Widnes site. Only a handful of vessels called here but trains still used the branch (just out of shot on the left) for a good few years after. The branch hasn't seen any use since a railtour traversed it in 2010. Looking at the condition of the track it looks like cement deliveries here will be moved by road. Mode Wheel locks and Salford Quays provide the background.
