The original course of the Sankey canal now used by the Sankey Brook looking towards Cromwell Avenue. When the canal was in use the water level would have been higher as this section would have been the rise above Bewsey lock. The water level may rise on a spring tide on the Mersey or during heavy rainfall. It has burst it's banks on occasion.
